The device isn’t even released and the leaks are happening already. BB Leaks has let this one slip, if you’re a hybrid maker this will contain some very nice files for you to work your magic.

One thing you notice about this video is how much the clamshell is chromed in comparison to other devices. The BlackBerry 6 looks fantastic and runs very smooth on this prototype. What does it show us that we didn’t see at WES2010. Well it shows new versions of Twitter and Facebook, I wish they would release the updates now Facebook is terrible. I like the scrolling messages on the inbox, that’s a really neat idea for emails with long subjects. Along with the transparent menus, it looks like all the stock apps have been given a lick of paint. As for the Clamshell, well I still think the keyboard is too small, notice in the video you didn’t see anyone touching the keyboard? Makes you wonder if it’s just meant for people with tiny fingers ?

Release for this device must be getting very close, as it keeps appearing on the internet. This time BGR crew serve us up with a 14 second clip of video showing off this prototype.

What does it show, well for one how thin the device will be, as an estimate I would say it is comparable to a Storm 2. It would have been good to see the BlackBerry 6 in working order but then what would they wow us with in the next leak lol.

This is a new kind of GPS application, purely because it relies on other users feeding the system with information, maybe not a good thing until it takes off. But the more people use it, Waze say, the better it gets. Its real time mapping to the extreme, users can post pictures of obstructions, warn of accidents, speed cameras etc. There still some bugs in the system, but hey this is a Beta so if you find them let Waze know. You can down load the latest Beta here.

(artists impression of the BlackBerry Tablet, not actual device)
The rumor mill was running into over time when it emerged that RIM were making a Tablet to rival that of Apple’s iPad last year, various codenames have like ‘BlackPad’ and ‘CoBolt’ have been used in numerous articles on the internet and in social media. LouiV over at BB Leaks has added fuel to these rumors with actual confirmation that RIM ARE working on a tablet. Given RIM’s track record of releasing devices and staying up to date with its software, I would agree with Loui and say this will be launched at WES2011 when they celebrate their 10th event. So what basically are we expecting a giant Storm with the dimensions of the iPad ? That’s probably it in a nutshell. Ultimately BBM is a must along with 3G & WiFi. Memory has been an issue for a long time as apps get bigger to provide us with the quality that we have all been accustom to, the consumer demands faster and more HD which RIM have to address if they are to succeed with this next chapter.

Being a Beta tester for Fixmo from day one, I’ve found this application invaluable on many occasions accidentally deleting the wrong email. For users that aren’t executing Fixmo your heart plunges into darkness, you stare at your device in shock thinking ‘omg what have I just done!’. But with the handy option of ‘Undelete’ in this application brings your darkened world back to life.
Other features include ‘Flame Retardant’ this warns of any inappropriate content such as swearing excessive punctuation and capitalization (implies shouting). Also unintended recipients by checking domain details, this helps keeping business and pleasure emails separate.
‘Silencer’ does exactly what it says on the tin, but with the added bonus of automatically silencing your device when in meetings (sync via BlackBerry calendar). A useful tool if your mind is preoccupied with the task in hand, it saves the embarrassment of your device alerts at an inappropriate moment.
‘Memory Monitor’ gives you an informative break down of your devices memory stats both for your device and RAM. This enables you to recover memory that has been used by applications. ‘Battery Watch’ displays stats about your device battery;- talk time, web, stand by, temperature. This helps to manage your device time effectively.

As Mike Lazaridis took centre stage at the WES general session, there was much anticipation as to what was going to be announced. 41 million users are getting things done is what Mike calls a good start for RIM, and are very confident to more than double that figure and break the 100 million mark very soon. What did surprise me is that only 20 million users to date have downloaded App World but at a fast approaching 1 million downloads a day the figures are still not to be stubbed at.
He talks about applications, with emphasis being on quality and not quantity and how developers are able to make Super Apps that actually talk to one another. Right now over 20 million users utilize BlackBerry Messenger, which is a phenomenal amount to have on an enterprise network, so what do the other 50% use ???
