After its departure from the BlackBerry Beta Zone, this RIM app is going from strength to strength. With the integration in to operating system ie inbox notifications for items & calender reminders there really is not better way to eBay on the move.

SocialScope Updates

Its been a while since my SocialScope account got shut down and after numerous invites back into the beta I finally got an email out of the blue this morning saying I could download the new updated version. After promptly downloading the new update I've found that loads has changed since the last allowed version many months ago. Below is the new features & bug fixes for the update. You can download the app directly from your mobile browser, install and post away. Access Seesmic and, depending on your device, the website will redirect you to the download link you're looking for.

WordPress for BlackBerry updates

Downloaded and ready to go is the new update of WordPress for BlackBerry. Check out the change log for this version below:

- Fixed empty title issue for those blogs with “Site Title” field set to empty value.

- Fixed an issue on the comments screen that doesn’t permit editing of comments with weird characters within URL or e-mail field.

- Introduced a better integration with the VideoPress service and the WordPress.com Space-Upgrade option.

- Added support for the blog shortcut icon.

- Minor bug fixing.

Another essential tool for bloggers with berries gets another update. Fixing bugs from v1.3 and introducing some new features:

The following features have been added in version 1.4:

- Easier sign in process
- Added support for HTTP authentication on password-protected self-hosted blogs
- Improved the app’s ability for bug reporting and feedback
- The file browser now remember the last opened folder

This release contains many bug fixes, including:

- Issue when modifying the properties of a picture attached to a post
- Startup issue on the splash screen that causing the app freezing
- Issue on the Stats view when a post title contains more double quote characters

BlackBerry Torch 9800

The day has finally come the a lot of BlackBerry users have been waiting for.....the launch of the elusive BlackBerry 9800. Now branded as the 'Torch' rather than a 'Bold' below are the official specifications released at the press event in New York today (in association with AT&T). I have been waiting for this device for what seems like ages, ever since I heard of the concept behind it last year. Although I am excited about the new platform I do have some reservations that RIM have held out too long in releasing it. Although the spec of the 9800 is very good, how will it fair against the likes of the iPhone 4 and the Moto Droid X. Those who made the jump from Berry to Droid recently don't seem to be phased by the official specifications. Online reviews will be a decision maker for a lot of people, though I have to say if the 9800 doesn't stack up I would be tempted to move to a Droid X.

Well it’s come to that time of year again where I’m up for an upgrade with O2, the thing is I’m in 2 minds as what to choose. The BlackBerry 9800 has had a very big pull on me for a long time, ever since I heard of the device. A full touch screen with a sliding full qwerty, I was sold from day one many months ago. The device packs a punch with a big display, improved memory space and of course the elusive BlackBerry 6. This new UI (User Interface) has such a big pull on me, I’ve been hooked on BlackBerry ever since my first device (Curve 8320) back in January 2009. Shortly after that I wanted the best (at the time) so I upgraded to the Bold (9000), and then decided to get a 9700 with Vodafone.
 
So here I stand just about 5 weeks away from upgrade time wondering if I should indeed get the 9800, the Droid X looks very nice and has some killer features on it that even gives Apple a run for its money with the iPhone 4. Don’t get me wrong I’ve had a play with an iPhone 4 & an iPad and they are very good at what they do, but the Droid X would be the one IF I was to defer from BlackBerry. It’s a tough one to call but I will probably end up going for the 9800 as I love the integration that RIM implement into the OS. I’m sold !

In my opinion Google’s doodles, as they are called, tend to be a bit boring. But since they put a playable version of Pacman on the home screen celebrating 30 years, I’m finding very hard to get anything done. It takes me back to when I was a small boy, where video games were humongous pieces of equipment that zapped batteries in minutes. Google should definitely start incorporating more simple games like this into their homepage doodles, it just for fun and it gets people talking. Let’s see who can get the highest score lol.
 
Playing is very easy, hit up Google's homepage and click ‘insert coin’. This fires up the game, then just use the arrow keys to direct Pacman and gobble up all the food. If your friend is feeling a little left out then why not press the ‘insert coin’ button again and hey presto Pac-woman appears. Controls for Pac-woman are A-Left, D-Right, W-Up & S-Down. Challenge your friends and family to see who can get the highest score.

A Useful Pad

How many times do you see people on bbm, email, chatrooms or social sites asking for an ‘ota’ (over-the-air) download. I see it quite a lot to be honest, I have made use of my ‘Memo Pad’, which is located in the ‘Applications’ folder. Any ‘ota’ I receive or create is stored in here, and when ever there is an update I simply update the memo pad.
 
You may be asking but where do I get the ‘ota’ address from ? it is simple, when you go to a ota download page instead of pressing download straight away. Press menu, then scroll down and you’ll see ‘Page Address’ simply copy the address. You can then proceed with your download. But don’t forget when you have downloaded the copied address is still on your clipboard, be sure to save it in your memo pad before you commence a reboot. Before long you will have a very nice list of ota links for applications that you use (and some that you just use every now and again but don’t want to keep them on your device because of the lack of memory).
 
When loading a new OS, I always do a complete wipe then usually shrink out what I don’t want ie languages, games, etc then load the OS. After a few reboots I start to load the apps I want back on from the ‘ota list’. The result is a freshly updated OS complete with up to date application versions.
 
   
   

Coming Back

 Ok guys, I know I have said this before, but Im making a come back on the BlackBerry scene. Im sorry that I have been gone for a long time, but I had some things going on in my life that I had to settle out before I could have time for anything else. But now that everything is good, I hope to be back ASAP and stay for good this time

I just thought I would let those who care know :P
